Not every Charmed book needs time travel and this one did it unsuccessfully with no build up. If you want to read a good Charmed book I suggest "The Legacy of Merlin" and "Pied Piper" first. Save your money on "Date with Death" - get it at the library/5(10). Date with Death is the first book in the new cozy mystery series, The Dales Detective. Now when we start with the two main characters being Samson and Delilah I wondered if this wouldn't just be a silly story but it actually turned out to be a pretty good mystery.4/4(8). Marigold has a date with Death, but when she foils his plan to take her soul back to Hell, she invites him to dinner instead. Mictain, a former Aztec god who collects souls for Satan, is baffled at his interest in the plump witch who can see him/5(). It's disappointing that this and the other book on Philip Markoff were published before his suicide. This book at least goes to Dec. and offers more insight into Markoff and the case against him. That said, like "Seven Days of Rage," "Date With Death" has all the hallmarks of a book written in haste to glom onto the publicity around the case/5(17).
